Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times The movie has its share of disturbing visuals, but it's the profound emotional toll taken on the Braudes and their fellow Jews that packs the biggest punch. Dec 3, 2021 Full Review Nick Schager Variety A Norwegian family falls victim to the Nazis, as well as their collaborating countrymen, in Eirik Svensson's moving Holocaust drama. Dec 3, 2021 Full Review Cath Clarke Guardian [A] heartfelt, restrained movie... Rated: 3/5 May 5, 2021 Full Review Nora Lee Mandel Maven's Nest Another outstanding reckoning with how Scandinavian countries dealt with Nazis in WW2. Several scenes are vivid demonstrations of the full scale collaboration of the title. Rated: 8/10 Dec 22, 2021 Full Review Hannah Brown Jerusalem Post What makes the movie work is the actors' strong performances, which make vivid the sense of family and how it sustained the characters through the bleakest moments. Dec 9, 2021 Full Review Harvey S. Karten Shockya.com We have come to expect Germany and Eastern Europe to be anti-Semitic. But Norway? BigDeez C Devastating film, superbly done. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/24 Full Review William C The film showed promise at first--good cinematography and good acting. But then it went down, down, down... Every once in a while, the director makes us feel that maybe there is a glimmer of hope—an escape, a rescue, or something. But no. Absolutely depressing, and without a point, at every level. Yes, we know Nazi's did evil things, and we wish they had not done it. But is it supposed to be pleasurable to watch a 126 minute story about it that could have been told in a 20-minute documentary? If you want to watch a movie where evil wins out for virtually all the characters, and nothing is resolved, then be sure to catch this film. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/08/23 Full Review Susan M I just saw this movie last night and I'm still thinking about it. We always see war movies from Germany but never Norway. This movie was a rollercoaster of emotions. How can humans been so cruel and hateful. The minute the men were separated and the father told his son he had to stay, the father knew. The acting was incredible, Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/11/23 Full Review Dean F Simply an oustanding drama, beautfully acted and filmed, that brings home the horror of the Nazi atrocities against the Jews and lays bare the complicity of the Norweigen authorities in the killing of hundreds of Norweigen Jews. I doubt I've ever seen a movie that builds to such a tense, terrible climax. Unforgettable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved it and it has haunted me ever since I watched it. I'm so incredibly sad about what happened to the Braudes who are featured and so many millions of others. If there is a purpose to be served by history - we must not stand idle while such monsters take everything. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
