      Critics Consensus

It's ironically lacking in aesthetic appeal, but Bettie Page Reveals All most effectively honors its subject by letting her tell her own story.

Kathryn Laskaris Toronto Star Page's natural beauty, charisma and genuine sense of fun - not to mention her 36-24-37 measurements - come clearly through in Mori's tale. Rated: 3/4 Mar 6, 2014 Full Review Moira MacDonald Seattle Times An amateurish and oddly paced documentary, "Bettie Page Reveals All" nonetheless turns out to be revealing, if perhaps not in the way its makers intended. Rated: 2/4 Jan 2, 2014 Full Review Michael O'Sullivan Washington Post The best thing about this documentary portrait of the beloved 1950s pin-up is its meaty narration, courtesy of Page herself, speaking in the low, slightly gravelly register of an aging Southern belle. Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 12, 2013 Full Review Mat Bradley-Tschirgi Battleship Pretension Although disturbing at times, Bettie Page Reveals All is an effective look at the sometimes troubled life of a modeling icon. Dec 8, 2020 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Mori does a tremendous job of explaining the entertaining and emotionally resonant life journey of one of America's most unusual cultural icons. Rated: 3.5/4.0 Sep 2, 2020 Full Review Bernard Boo Way Too Indie Bettie's as cool as a cucumber, and it's this unwavering sunny disposition and air of class that makes her image immortal. Audience Member Very moving to see the true depth of this woman's life. Sometimes joyful, sometimes tragic but always honest. She had much to do with the sexual revolution that we all benefit from today. A must see. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie could have been great but the sound was horrible. Who mixed this? Seriously. The sound would just go real high and then low. Also there were a couple weird sounds. If you can get through the bad sound mix it's good to learn more about Bettie Page. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Narrated by herself in her retirement, this Bettie Page tell-all documentary is through and through spellbinding with her enduring allure as a legendary pinup in the 1950s, her inspirations as a feminist icon and her riveting private lives as an abused teenager, a damaged lover, a fanatic evangelical Christian and a schizophrenic patient. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member An overview of the legendary pinup's career, it also reveals what happened to her after she disappeared at her peak. You'll hear Bettie's voice throughout, as well as interviews with those who worked with her and loved her. Of course, there are hundreds of those famous photos, too. I was a bit taken aback at how much nude modeling she did, not to mention all the bondage stuff (knew about both, just didn't realize the extent!). The documentary is rated R - you'll see it all. A fascinating look at a true icon. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow. The narration of the older Bettie Page talking about her life as we see the images and interviews with people from her life throughout is so honest & let's you know everything about her. What a legend. Beautiful, honest & scary throughout. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member What it lacks in entertainment it makes up for with having interesting subject matter. The late Bettie Page tells her own story (via prerecorded interview) and it taught me a lot of things that I never knew about her previously. I would only recommend this for loyal fans of Bettie Page and/or documentary fans. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
