Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald Unlike Aileen's, the film moves at a gentle pace, keyed to the town's seasonal rhythms as Whitaker looks in on the households of the surfers and their families. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 5, 2018 Full Review Cath Clarke Guardian The big draw here for fans is the phenomenal surfing footage, which captures the brutal beauty of the landscape and surfers gliding through waves so powerful they look as if they could snap a person in half. Rated: 3/5 Mar 30, 2018 Full Review Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader The character's scenes with his mother (Vicky Hernandez) and the next-door-neighbor he adores (Viviana Serna) are engrossing in their unfussy realism, as Cruz...uses the tiniest of movements to suggest the red-blooded man trapped inside the infirm body. Apr 27, 2017 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Sunday Age The cultural shift onshore isn't closely examined, but when the action moves into the water the attraction of the waves is eloquently established by cinematographer Kevin Smith. Rated: 3/5 Jun 15, 2018 Full Review John Noonan FILMINK (Australia) ...like surfing itself, you must adapt and change to suit your environment. May 15, 2018 Full Review Loretta Goff Film Ireland Magazine Stunning local big-wave destinations Riley's Wave and Aileen's Wave, at the base of the scenic Cliffs of Moher, feature in the film. heidi n Just watched this beautiful film. It's one of those movies that is a window into another place and another way of living. Learned a lot. About the beauty of the place, about the brave and talented Irish surfers who have paved the way for the next generation, about the love of family and the line one has to walk between love of a sport and finding your grounded place in the world.
