John McCarthy was a big screen film actor known for powerful performances. McCarthy started his acting career landing roles in such films as "His Fighting Blood" (1935) with Maynard Kermit, the comedy "The Road to Hong Kong" (1962) with Bing Crosby and the Peter Sellers comedic adaptation "Dr. Strangelove" (1964). In the eighties and the nineties, McCarthy devoted his time to various credits, such as "Assassination" with Charles Bronson (1987), "Bulletproof" with Gary Busey (1988) and "The Party's Over" (Lifetime, 1989-1990). He also worked on "Sweet Nothing" (1996). In the nineties and the early 2000s, McCarthy lent his talents to projects like "UFOs vs. the Government" "Blue Streak" (1999) and "Hostage" (PBS, 1999-2000). His credits also expanded to "Lost City of Pompeii: Secrets of the Dead" (2000-01). McCarthy most recently acted in the sports drama "Best" (2001) with John Lynch.
