In BETWEEN THE TEMPLES, Ben (Jason Schwartzman) is a forty-something cantor losing his voice and possibly his faith. Struggling to meet the expectations of his rabbi, congregation, and not one but two Jewish mothers (Caroline Aaron and Dolly De Leon), Ben finds his world turned upside down when his grade school music teacher re-enters his life as an adult bat mitzvah student. This warm and anxious comedy from prolific writer/director Nathan Silver explores the complexities of belief, connection, and what it means to be a real mensch.

Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine Between the Temples is often funny, sometimes uncomfortable to watch, and, despite its flaws, quite moving. Rated: 3/4 Sep 3, 2024 Full Review Katie Walsh Tribune News Service Singing in its own key, there might not be a more authentic and purely entertaining film this year. Rated: 4/4 Aug 30, 2024 Full Review Mark Asch The Atlantic Director Nathan Silver’s hopeful film demonstrates the adaptability of tradition, and the possibility of reconciliation and continuity across the generations. Aug 30, 2024 Full Review Asia Frey Lagniappe (Mobile, AL) “Between the Temples” is a rare treat, a simply extraordinary dramedy with exceptional writing and performances telling a compelling and unusual story. Oct 18, 2024 Full Review Filipe Freitas Always Good Movies Not much in the material stimulates, and the film, sloppily rendered and off-punttingly screwy, doesn’t leave an impression. Rated: 2/5 Oct 15, 2024 Full Review Nadine Whitney In Their Own League Between the Temples is both off-kilter and perfectly logical in its own illogical way. Nathan Silver’s film is a balm for the heart. Rated: 4/5 Oct 13, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Marla Shameful, quite possibly the worst movie I ever saw. Do not waste your time & money. How could they have ever made such a horrible movie. Not 1 positive comment to make. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review Olivia W thoroughly enjoyed this original entertaining film. Saw it twice. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/21/24 Full Review Fran One of the worst movies I have ever ever seen! It was very disjointed, took a while before I realized what was going on. It started with the candle, wearing his totally, and running through the street, which is a total disrespect, and never would happen in real life. Horrible horrible, horrible movie. If I could get a refund for the four of us I would. I would never recommend it to anyone. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/21/24 Full Review Melanie Awful story.-not believable-cringe worthy None of the characters except the rabbi were realistic or likeable Good soundtrack Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review uncledonnienyc Unwatchable .. a waste of time Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Maria Joseline giving harold and Maude vibes visually and sound wise the way it was shot was kinda amateurish but nice loving the weird blended family Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews
