Isaac Feldberg Inverse As the emptiness of pop culture's ongoing love affair with nostalgia increasingly finds Hollywood huffing its own fumes, Beyond the Black Rainbow aesthetically leans in to tease the endpoint of all that retromania. Rated: 4.5/5 Jul 21, 2021 Full Review William Goss MSN Movies There's much to admire about Panos Cosmatos' directorial debut, but the end result is admittedly not for all tastes. Mar 21, 2013 Full Review Rene Rodriguez Miami Herald The movie looks like it was lit by lava lamps, scored on Moog synthesizers, written between bong hits and acted underwater. None of this is meant as praise. Rated: 1/4 Jul 26, 2012 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh The razor-thin narrative feels mainly like a delivery system for psychedelic visuals and an enchanting musical score, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Rated: 3/5 Sep 24, 2023 Full Review Taylor Baker Drink in the Movies Episode 9: Phantasmagoria Rated: 90/100 Aug 28, 2021 Full Review Jack Fleischer Battleship Pretension This is one wild, odd, crazy film, but I'd say that writer/director Panos Cosmatos succeeds. I want to watch it again, and see what else is hiding inside. Mar 24, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Meriton A The story has a dreamlike quality that's a bit elusive (or weird and senseless) at times but the visuals are stunning! Definitely worth checking out. Panos Cosmatos is one of my fav Directors. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/24 Full Review Slightly G Interesting aesthetics and visuals. Doomy, slow-paced scenes are very well made. The black-and-white scene from '1966' segment just killed me. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review Valerii Ege D I always support and endorse experimental movies yet this one is a big no. Watching the movie was like a torture to me. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review Mario C Must have been on drugs who ever wrote this movie. Makes no sense. A lot of music with strange scenes that make no sense. To watch this movie makes no sense....waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/11/23 Full Review Joe W It's mindboggling how anything this awful gets made. Looking at the production quality, the budget must have been under a hundred dollars. The acting is non-existent. The cinematography basic is just a camera lingering on a face. And then lingering some more. And some more... Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Entrancing and atmospheric sci-fi that works as both an effective homage of classic '80s VHS fare and solid Lovecraftian horror in its own right.
