Colin M Asian family life. A day trip to Blackpool. Conflict over various issues. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A politically correct Nineties film with thinly-drawn characters and a largely predictable plot line. Not bad though, too many characters perhaps. Think 'Letter to Brezhnev', 'Brassed Off'. Meera Syal wrote the script. Good for period colour. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member wow.....ummm just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch......its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie......i think that sarita khajuria (.R.I.P.), amer chadha patel, james harkishin, renu kochar, mo sesay, play good roles/parts throughout this movie......i think that the director of this drama/art house/international/comedy movie had done a great job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie.......i think that this is such a really well written/acted/directed movie 2 watch it is such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch.......its got a good soundtrack throughout this movie........i think that this is a very over looked british movie but it is such an enjoyable movie 2 watch......i think that this is such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch it is a really sad movie 2 watch but it is such a fantastic movie 2 watch its got a great cast throughout this movie.......i think that this is such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch it is such a really well written/acted/directed movie 2 watch its got a great cast throughout this movie......i think that this is such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch its got a great cast throughout this movie......i think that this is a really well directed movie 2 watch it is so really sad movie 2 watch but its such an enjoyable movie 2 watch its got a great cast throughout this movie its got a good soundtrack throughout this movie its such an enjoyable movie 2 watch.......its such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch with a great cast throughout this movie........ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A reasonable good British movie, would of given it more stars but it was a bit dated. Funny and serious at the same time, a group of Indian women go to Blackpool but their troubles follow them there. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I watched this because I lived in Blackpool from 1995-2004 (aged 4-13) before I immigrated to the states, I liked it because it brought back some memories of Blackpool like the wagon wheel, and the north pier in its entirity before the helipad was blown off at the end, trams go past with signs saying 25p fare, it shows the outside of a Woolworths (which ended up going) now Blackpool has gone downhill a lot and the atmosphere isn't buzzing like in this movie. the storyline of this movie however didn't really interest me, and the Brahma on the beach scenes, and the major from keeping up appearences being himself kinda creeped me out. interesting to see dev from coronation street hasn't changed a bit since 1993 though, would of been great if it had a better storyline. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member A group of Asian women spanning several generations escape their humdrum existence on a trip to Blackpool. There are funny moments as well as serious ones focussing on issues such as mixed-raced relationships and pregnancy outside marriage. It also stars a twenty-something-year old Jimi Harkishin aka Dev from Corrie! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Alexander Walker London Evening Standard As a look at the Afro-Asian community in Britain, it’s everything one could ask for: funny and serious at the same time, good-tempered but not afraid of giving offence. Feb 14, 2022 Full Review Simran Hans New Statesman In the film, beachside donkey rides, ferris wheels, striped deck chairs and the blue expanse of the ocean aren't just seasonal pleasures, they're images of liberation. May 12, 2021 Full Review John Hartl Seattle Times The scenes in Blackpool are vibrant, funny and finally quite complex and powerful. Rated: 3/4 May 10, 2021 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Bhaji is a feminist declaration, but not a harangue. It gives ample scope for anyone to identify with. [Full review in Spanish] Jun 7, 2022 Full Review Melinda Miller Buffalo News The boardwalk, fountains, sandy beaches and a carnival atmosphere electrify and intensify the emotions of the day. By the end, you don't know if everything will be all right, but you have no doubt that everything will be different. May 10, 2021 Full Review Mail Staff Daily Mail (UK) A perceptive, shrewd and funny view of the culture clash (though the clash is a very gentle one). Mar 18, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
