Bibliotheque Pascal takes risks. Many of them do not pay off. But at least it takes them. Rated: B- Mar 29, 2011 Full Review Simon Foster sbs.com.au Bibliothque Pascal is a bracing, shocking, confusing journey at times. But it is also a moving, involving story, its harsher elements balanced by always seeming to have its heart in the right place. Mar 4, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Very likely today's best Hungarian director Szabolcs Hajdu made an unicue, upsetting, very interesting and captivating movie. High society prostitution, human trafficking and naturally a family's destiny provides the setup for the deeply provoking, yet very entertaining movie. No cliches, jut good storytelling, original cinematography and great actors. In leading role the directors long time life companion, a talented actress, Orsolya Török-Illyés. Warning for lovers of Hollywood cliches: this is not for you. But whoever thinks of cinema as an art form, will be not disappointing with this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member A weird, inspirational film that reminds me of "Taxidermia" at times, but it never got the same punch. We follow the story of a woman that tries to get costidy of her child again, and to make it happen she must tell the story of her life the last couple of years. The story is pretty wild and cool and it's really fast paced. Loads of stuff happen, and most of is is weird and it feels rather random without much debt. It's not boring, but not that interesting either. it amazes me at times, and it looks lovely - the cinematagrophy is neat. I just can't keep my interest up. It got me hooked for fifteen minutes, then I dose of and could not care less about what's going on. This is naturally ruining the movie a whole lot. 4 out of 10 vacuum packages. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Incredible cinematography, a brave and poetic story line and incredible acting (especially from the handsome and talented, Shamgar Amram). An absolute gem and a must see. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A big, big, girl in a big, big, weird, kinky, world. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A frightening tale of a young woman, betrayed by those who ought to protect her and preyed upon by a ruthless pimp who demands perfection. Or is it? Is it real, or a merely fantastic tale meant to explain an absence that put her child in some minor danger? One is never sure. There are several disturbing images, and one finds oneself believing it could happen just the way she tells it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member self-preservation IS universal. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
