      Critics Consensus

Though there's nothing that offensive about Big Fat Liar, it is filled with Hollywood cliches and cartoonish slapstick, making it strictly for kids. Read critic reviews

This isn't a life-changing movie; it's not an epic or anything like that. But it's entertaining, and it's fun. It's a film that the whole family can watch together, and at the moment there are precious few kid-suitable films that don't have a love story in them. It tells a good story in a lighthearted way without trying to dazzle the audience with over-the-top special effects, like lots of films these days are. The acting is quite good too, the actors look comfortable and believable in their surroundings, all the music that's been used fits in pretty well with the movie content and most importantly the jokes are kind of funny.

        A good comedy, not great!

I don't find this movie as funny as I did when I was nine. Frankie Muniz has never been in a good movie, and Amanda Bynes hasn't been in a lot, so that's to be expected. Paul Giamatti though? What are you doing here?
