Critics Consensus

Unnecessary, unfunny, and generally unwelcome, Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son offers more of the same for fans of Martin Lawrence's perplexingly popular series.

Tom Russo Boston Globe Looking back, it's strange to remember that the first two movies were both hits, and that Paul Giamatti and Terrence Howard even saw enough in the premise to sign up for the original. At this point, it's really all just flab. Rated: 1/4 Nov 24, 2011 Full Review Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle I'm no fan of Perry's blunt-force morality comedies, but at least his pseudo-sainted materfamilias is a real character. Rated: 0.5/5 Feb 25, 2011 Full Review Simon Abrams Slant Magazine It's a true rubber-necker's delight, a comedy so inconceivably tacky that it will make you question whether or not you're laughing at the film or with it. Rated: 0/4 Feb 23, 2011 Full Review James McMahon NME (New Musical Express) Big Momma's 3 isn't offensive. It isn't an unkind portrayal of obesity and its themes are light and carefree. But it's still dreadfully unfunny. Rated: 1/5 May 25, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com The physical slapstick has grown tired and, strangely enough, Lawrence himself even looks a bit tired here. Rated: 1.0/4.0 Sep 3, 2020 Full Review James Plath Movie Metropolis The father/stepson angle applies a much-needed Heimlich maneuver to a series that was choking, but it's not enough. Emery A More of the same, if the mood was already not very good and there was a meager improvement in the second, the third became extremely tiring. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/24 Full Review Chris B Musical talent that for me anyhow makes it a must see. Enjoyable and great chemistry. Just love the movies in general. Nice to see a family friendly movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Great beautiful movie Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member he is funny as the second fool but not stupid. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review lucca b An unnecessary, unfunny, unoriginal and generic sequel with nothing new nor relevant to add to the comedy genre. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Worst movie of 2011. STUPID MOVIE!!!! Why does this unfunny, idiotic, stereotypical, predictable, bland, boring movie have a 58% audience? How come good films and underrated films such as Hulk, Daredevil, Spy Kids, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, Stuart Little, Stuart Little 2, Harriet the Spy, and Charlie's Angels (2003) all have lower audience scores than this atrocity?! I swear, the Rotten Tomatoes audience is just a bunch of countless idiots with shitty taste in movies! This is one of the worst, unfunniest, and stupidest movies I've ever watched. It was so painful to watch this dumpster fire. I have lost all fondness and respect for Martin Lawrence. It was so unfunny, predictable, forgettable, boring, cliched, and poorly acted.
