      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Expanding the franchise with some effective twists, Bird Box Barcelona lacks some of its predecessor's creepy tension but remains occasionally involving in its own right.

      Audience Consensus

Bird Box Barcelona has some interesting ideas for new directions the franchise could follow, but overall, this sequel lacks a lot of what made the first movie worth watching.

Rocky B Decent enough for brainless entertainment, but a far cry from its predecessor. The twist and special effects actually made it much worse. If you’re bored as all heck, give it a watch. Otherwise, meh. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Hargie M makes you wish you were blindfolded – not to avoid monsters, but to shield your eyes from this cinematic disaster. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review Cronis screenplay for children, This Barcelona Bird Box is a disaster with the usual stupid games that use the screenwriters without ideas, first make you hate the protagonist, then make you hate it, and then make you love it again, not to mention the dialogues that are useless and trivial , the action scenes are ridiculous and trivial even those, the 5 vote is also too high, I vote 1, because I don't like it when the script plays with the spectators as if they were a pack of sheep, in addition to the whole film it is obvious Already after the first 15 minutes we know what will happen during the film and in the final, with Sebastien and Lucia, script for children! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Greg B I personally liked this movie better than the first bird box. I didn't think either movie was that amazing though. I think the religious aspect of this movie actually makes the movie a little more scary. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Jelisije J People are hating on this movie for its religious undertones and not giving this story a chance. Its excellent from its writing and directing and I don't know what people expected from this sequel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times The film has moments of pure and hard terror that should appease those who love the genre. [Full review in Spanish] Oct 5, 2023 Full Review Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) [There's] a new element, which I think is very bright of the film... They pull this thing off again. Jul 22, 2023 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times The Barcelona edition is essentially a repeat of the first film, flaws and all. Jul 17, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies It’s certainly no clone of its 2018 predecessor. The Pastors do a good job of giving their film its own identity, taking the same concept and building on it in a number of interesting ways. Rated: 4/5 Sep 13, 2023 Full Review Nuha Hassan Nuha Hassan The movie could have spent time observing the themes around grief and what it does to someone but, instead, focuses on the faux-religious angle that takes away the emotional moments to reach its full potential. Sep 8, 2023 Full Review Erik Childress Movie Madness Podcast Having laid the groundwork for its terror in the lackluster first film, this one raises an interesting idea and then never fleshes it out beyond an antagonist's secret as it is more interested in its suicidal payoffs then truly upping the stakes.
