Jim Schembri The Age (Australia) Noni Hazelhurst and Steve Rodgers are very good, but there really is only so much moping one can stand. Rated: 2/4 Sep 19, 2008 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's a film that demands that you slow your own pulse rate and surrender to its melancholy rhythms. As with so many young Australian filmmakers, Weekes isn't interested in having his characters sparkle. Sep 19, 2008 Full Review Alissa Simon Variety Despite game perfs from a well-known cast, weak scripting and sketchy character development leave too many holes to ultimately convince or compel. Apr 29, 2008 Full Review Steve Rhodes Internet Reviews A much more appropriate title for this snoozefest would be Slow & Pointless. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 9, 2009 Full Review Howard Feinstein Screen International It's a miracle when an untracked English-language film arrives on the scene -- and a special joy when said movie is smashing. Oct 18, 2008 Full Review Jason Di Rosso MovieTime, ABC Radio National Infidelity, unrequited love and eating disorders fill these griefstricken stories, which start well but never really take flight. Audience Member Very surprised by the negative reviews on this. I actually thought it was a really good little Australian slice of life film. I found a lot of this really rang true, very relatable. It's not exactly a feel good film as it is about a family who have been through a trauma with the death of their adult son. The father is eating himself to death and unhappy at work as a really bad car salesman. The mother is feeling her age and like her life is over. I found her character especially good. Their other son is chasing around the girlfriend of his dead brother, who is meanwhile involved with an older married man - you get the idea! Not a happy group of people. Recommended if you don't need a movie that is all happy and not true to life. Personally I liked this a lot. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Thoughtful film, gets it just about right for me. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member A little bit slow but the story somehow keeps you interested. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member did you ever get a sticker at school that said "For Trying!" ? Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
