Steve D A complete waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/24 Full Review Audience Member A wonderful collection of ballet clips choreographed by Roland Petit, Black Tights showcases the talents of Zizi Jeanmaire, Moira Shearer, and Cyd Charisse. The Moira Shearer segment, based on Cyrano de Bergerac, goes on a bit too long, but Cyd Charisse's performance showcases her sense of humor as well as her dancing talent, and Zizi Jeanmaire makes an exuberant Carmen. The copy of this that I rented also contained a documentary called Bolshoi Ballet '67 that provides an inside peek at this esteemed dance company. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Four of Roland Petit's ballets are performed by some of the dance giants of Hollywood and ballet. Roland Petit has never been my favourite choreographer, but his ballets are well suited to the technicolor musical treatment. My personal favourite of the four is the 24 hours of mourning with Cyd Charisse. Maurice Chevalier narrates, which is fun too. I would rcommend this film to people who like films like An American in Paris and the Red Shoes. The gorgeous Dali-esque sets are also a highlight.
