Courtney K idk; it sounded cooler than it ended up being. it lost my attention in a few spots so i might've just completely missed the parts that fit everything together because overall it felt kind of random to me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/12/23 Full Review Kyle M A horror film tackling stairs as a subject, and the most sensible cast of characters to climb with a reason to climb those flights are military under supposable training. A short film by a film student or a dedicated thrill deliverer with brief visionary should unveil something more terrifying than how this casually, nonsensically aimless mess frustratingly repeats without a solid base. Then what lurks creepily is stereotypically cliched and insipidly uninspired that prevents the story reaching to its full potential that the premise suggested. It has a satisfying payoff that at least awards you for sitting through this disappointedly, only to later share the sentiment at the end whether or not it continues in an endless cycle of something unknown deeper, and what if it hints a haunting analogy connected towards militarism. That speculative ambiguity branched from the payoff may help the film in providing a bit of sense, but it doesn't excuse its messy restraints under cheap intuitiveness. (C-) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/26/22 Full Review jabez a It's not worth it trust me I've never been more confused in my life it's like being stuck in a loop Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/21/22 Full Review timothy t Genuine effort. There may be a few directional and writing issues here and there but I always enjoy a movie where the characters are thrown into a really weird out of the world situation. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Inspiration to an extent, inspired that anybody, regardless of their theatre production experience, can somehow get their movie on hulu. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Dont waste your time This movie was so bad I cant even bother with a proper review. Rob Rector Film Threat It's worth viewing to witness Paton's audacious vision in hopes that he will one day receive a budget that will allow him to fully realize his storytelling acumen. Rated: 7/10 Jun 28, 2020 Full Review Ed Fortune Starburst The Ascent is unique, clever and unforgettable. Just be careful you don't end up watching it on loop. Rated: 10/10 Jun 18, 2020 Full Review Mark Dujsik Mark Reviews Movies [T]he characters of Black Ops are too flimsy and dispensable for their moral and existential crises to have much of an impact. Rated: 2/4 Jun 12, 2020 Full Review Matt Donato Flickering Myth A time-loop thriller like Blood Punch is about different outcomes in the same violent situation, while The Ascent becomes lost in its own non-varietal Groundhog Day premise. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 9, 2020 Full Review Josh Bell Crooked Marquee Paton plays with time loops in an occasionally ingenious way, but the characters never develop distinct personalities, and the action is often hard to follow. Rated: C+ May 19, 2020 Full Review James Perkins Starburst The performances, especially from lead actors Ward and Schnitzler, are fantastic. Rated: 9/10 Apr 18, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
