Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …a cheesy slab of late-night fun that skips most of the exploitation elements you’d expect and delivers healthy outdoor carnage by the shedload… Rated: 3/5 Aug 6, 2023 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com oped, only making a mess in the final moments of the feature, where we learn just how horrible a shot Jake actually is. "Blastfighter" is nonsense with terrible dubbing, but it remains a certain type of escapism for a certain type of audience. Rated: B- Aug 12, 2021 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills ...derivative, ridiculous, and packed with unintentionally funny ESL dialogue. But it is not dull-as trashy action goes, it delivers. Audience Member A bunch of rednecks are hunting animals in an unsporting manner. This doesn't play well with Ex- Cop Michael Sopkiw who has just done eight years in the slammer. What happens next is a mix of Rambo, Southern Comfort and Deliverance without the ass rape. Sopkiw also possesses the greatest fire arm in the history of cinema. It makes Chuck Norris's Heckler & Koch G3 with underslung 40mm Rotary Launcher from Braddock: Missing in Action III look like a rentboys mini ankle gun. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member An ex-cop who was removed from the force for murdering a killer is pushed too far by trigger happy poachers leading to a bloodbath in the woods. Really liked a lot about this one. Some great character actors here, the redneck jerks make the film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A total blast(fighter)! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Likely Lamberto bava's best movie, if you don't know him he is the son of legendry Italian filmmaker Mario bava who made such Classics as Blood and Black Lace, Black Sunday, and so on. Of course Lamberto wanted to follow in his foot steps, But after making horror movies and the cult classic Demons and Demons 2 he gave up horror and action to make children's movie....poor soul...He says there better and his hero is Miyazaki (And the two are best friends in real life)...Prior to making his blockbuster Demons he made this. Jake "Tiger" Sharp is a former policeman who seeks revenge after his wife is murdered. After killing the murderer, Sharp is sentenced to seven years in prison. Upon release Jake is given a [Spas-12] Shotgun by his old friend Jerry in order to wreak vengeance upon the crooked attorney responsible for sending him away. However, Jake instead at the last minute decides to return to his secluded cabin in the Appalachian wilderness and bury his gun in the floorboards. Matters become complicated when a group of unruly hunters run afoul of him and kill his baby deer. Jake goes to the Chinese butcher's office that the hunters have been selling to and smashes up the place. Jake's estranged daughter Connie then joins him with Jerry and her boyfriend, but all of them are killed off when the hunters decide to get revenge for scaring away the Chinaman. Jake manages to escape back to his cabin and dig up his gun for one last battle with those who would break the law. Of course the story is filled with shit we have already seen a million times before but unlike them, this one is pretty action packed, with plenty of violence's and killing scene but overall not boring at all and better than Rambo. The acting is pretty good Michael Sopkiw is one of my favorite actors...To bad he only stared in 4 movies in his entire career. The specital effects are awesome enough explosions and gun fights with the hunters to keep you entertained, Michael also does his own stunts so it looks wicked trust me. The shooting effects look epic, The Firefights are cool, The stunts are cool...it likely is one of the best action movies I have ever seen up to this point. The music is pretty good they later reused it in Massacre in dinosaur valley. The editing is okay and so on... Here are some facts I found The film was originally slated to be a science fiction film, but complications in production forced it to be scrapped and Dardano Sacchetti was commissioned to write a new script. Since the film had already been announced (and was being sold) under the title "BlastFighter", it was kept the same. Lucio Fulci was originally attached to direct, but eventually backed out to make The New Gladiators Director Lamberto Bava stated in an interview that the story came to him while he was reading a newspaper in which an article told how, in American National parks, the game wardens were worse than the poachers and were selling off the animals. As he then went to America to shoot the movie, he realized that these parks were 'made more for men than animals; nobody could care less about the creatures!' Though no animals were hurt deliberately during the production of the movie - the shooting being stock footage -, a young deer died of heart failure whilst being moved in a cage from one place to another. Italian DVD release (which is full uncut but with Italian audio and subtitles ONLY!) has quite a few more intense and violent scenes than the Finnish videotape (English audio) that possibly are not censorship cuts but version differences. The rape scene and the beating of the cop in the woods is more intense. Also the "exploding arm" - and "the throatcut" - scenes are not present in the Finnish videotape. There's also some differences in some of the dialogue scenes, like the ending - in the Italian print Eastman and Sopkiw don't say anything to each other while in the english language print they change a few words. Overall is an excellent action movie that is better then Rambo and my final verdict is highly recommended. Many of town's young adult male demographic is wiped out in the bloody confrontation; some only lose limbs. An absolute triumph for Italian films.
