      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Nicely cast but clumsily directed, Blind Dating smothers its leads' chemistry in a wildly uneven and mostly unmemorable romantic comedy with far too little of either.

Dennis D Great cast, very humorous, interesting plot. Definitely should see it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The romcom parts of this are well done: strong romantic leads, lots of funny dates with girls who are not right for the guy. The other half of the movie consists of reflections and jokes about being blind. So you don't get the full romcom experience, but some kind of mixed bag. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed this movie. It was surprisingly heartfelt yet funny. Sure there were some cheesy moments, but who cares? The movie left me with a great feeling, and I am ready to watch it over anytime. Most of the actors gave an amazing performance, and Pine was amazing. I've seen him in some other movies and i never would've imagined him in this role, but he did a fantastic job! And Jay as well gave a wonderful performance,as did the rest of the cast. And the humor is quite funny too... I especially loved Danny's brand of humor- innocent and wry and somehow taking advantage of his situation without quite doing so. And Pine's laugh is just so magical. Did i mention that? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a silly and weird and kind of boring comedy. But it wasn't silly or weird or boring enough for me to want to turn it off. Because despite all this I still wanted to know what would happen next. But it isn't a movie I would recommend and I probably won't see it again. Empire Magazine Rated: 2/5 Oct 2, 2009 Full Review Limara Salt Little White Lies Blind Dating also manages to be an incredibly muddled 95 minutes in which emotions are replaced by aggressive music cues to force the viewer to care for characters that are paper thin at best. Sep 18, 2009 Full Review Wendy Ide Times (UK) The whole thing ends with a jolly multicultural dance montage so gruesome that temporary blindness would be a blessed relief. Rated: 1/5 Sep 18, 2009 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins It's quite a bit like a bad date that audiences will desperately want to forget. Rated: 3/10 Nov 24, 2020 Full Review Ben Rawson-Jones Digital Spy While Pine is superb in the lead role, almost everything else fails to convince in this vastly uneven, unfunny and only sporadically dramatic enterprise. Rated: 2/5 Sep 18, 2009 Full Review Elliott Noble Sky Cinema Small wonder this hard-to-swallow cocktail of bawdy comedy, cross-cultural romance and issue-of-the-week melodrama was left on the shelf for three years. The marketing people can't have had a clue what to do with it. Rated: 2/5 Sep 18, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews
