I loved this film, it really showed the horror of the First World War in Eastern Europe. To me it felt like you were on the journey with the very young soldier, only there fighting because of his veteran father's need for revenge over the death of his wife. I never felt sorry for him, it was horrific what he went through but I felt it was a journey that needed to be finished although the agony of his losses kept coming. There were small moments of joy and tenderness that showed what really matters when life can't get any worse. However, it also showed how a life can be lost without a blink of a eye from those who witness it. Oto Brantevics was superb as the young soldier with an excellent cast in support.

Made by and in Latvia this is very surprising. The quality is comparable to Hollywood even though it is made on a low budget. I didn't know I was gonna be so intrigued when watching it. I did some research and found out that this is one of the best ww1 movies created, so this is definitely a must watch!

Quite exceptional, Even if the geopolitical side is little put forward, Blizzard of Souls exudes in an apparent simplicity a very great human force and brings its reflection on the absurdity of the war machine
