      Critics Consensus

Cheap CG effects and laughable dialogue make Blood and Chocolate worse than the usual werewolf flick.

Ally W It's not as bad as people say it is. Is it a little hammy? Absolutely. But it's perfect pass the time fantasy. The acting isn't awful nor unwatchable. I love the story and the lore. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review Jelisije J Not the worst werewolf movie that I have seen, but its definitely not memorable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/04/23 Full Review Devvy Don't judge a book by its movie. This horrible movie shares only a title, a few character names, and the subject of werewolves with the wonderful book it was loosely inspired by. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/19/23 Full Review It's based off a book that I loved and I love the movie. It's not for everyone though. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/16/23 Full Review katherine h I'm not exactly sure what everyone hated so badly about this movie. It's a 90 minute popcorn flick with a sincere need to step away from the slow-mo shots. But the acting was pretty decent and the story (while very by-the-numbers) was engaging enough to keep me interested. Yes, the cgi wasn't very good, but that was more a source of amusement for me than anything. Moreover, there wasn't actually a LOT of cgi. If you're looking for an Oscar winner, this clearly isn't it. But if you're just looking for something fun to watch that's a nice, short little movie? Give this a watch. It genuinely doesn't deserve the 11% it has on here. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Jessie R Blah. Boring CK modeling show. Michael Hardy Boston Globe The city ends up being more interesting than the story or characters. Too bad we can barely see it. Dec 3, 2007 Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader The elegant decay of Bucharest offers welcome visual relief from this otherwise tedious goth romance. Dec 3, 2007 Full Review Jamie Russell BBC.com Setting up a conflict between humans and lycanthropes, this inelegant adaptation of Annette Curtis Klausse's teen novel wants to be a tragedy, with the "loup garoux" - that's a fancy term for werewolves - struggling for survival in present day Romania.
