Bryan Dick
From an early age, English-born Bryan Dick was always involved with acting, although he was first trained as a ballet dancer, a passion he developed because of his love for Fred Astaire. After studying dance for many years, he left ballet school for art school, later enrolling at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, where he studied for three years. He landed his first major television role in 1992, playing the lead in "The Life and Times of Henry Pratt" -- more work in film and television followed. He is probably best known for his role in the 2004 BBC mini-series "Blackpool," playing a junior detective to David Tennant's D.I. Carlisle. He also co-starred in the sumptuously produced 2005 adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Bleak House," playing Prince Turveydrop. He had a small role in the 2005 BBC production "The Virgin Queen" as Thomas Wyatt, also starring in the musical drama series "All the Small Things," a show which focused on a diverse group of church choir members. Although more known for his stage and small screen work, Dick has appeared in several feature film productions, including his portrayal of a shipmate in the epic "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World"; a role as a band member in the wildly bizarre "Brothers of the Head"; and a small part in Lynne Ramsay's second film, "Morvern Callar."
