Inspired by the work of investigative journalist James Ridgeway, filmmakers Anne Bohlen and Kevin Rafferty examine the philosophies and goals of white-supremacist groups, from the Ku Klux Klan to the American Nazi Party. Shot primarily at a neo-Nazi gathering in rural Michigan, this social document includes candid interviews with white racists, footage of figureheads George Lincoln Rockwell and David Duke and clips from the groups' own hate-filled propaganda videos.

Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader Us and them: it's the division felt in most war movies, horror movies, action movies, westerns. What's interesting about Blood in the Face is that this division is all that's being talked about on the screen, but we never see it even once... Audience Member A powerful expose on the frightening ascent of far-right, totalitarian groups in the United States Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Made my ears bleed. The Christianity I grew up with said "Love thy neighbor". What is this? Spirituality of hate? Fight ignorance, read a book that doesn't have Hitler's name attached to it. Your pastor's interpretation's of The Bible are leading you astray. Hate is not the way of God. WE ARE ALL HUMAN. Wow. These people need some real guidence. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a bit dated but there's something inherently funny about poorly educated white folk who like dressing up in uniforms and silly costumes to express their bigoted views on race and sexuality. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Documentary outlining the rise of racist groups in the United States in the 90s. Although the film is now a couple of decades old, one can image that these groups are still in operation today. Good messaging that is not terribly dated. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Oh those lovably cute neonazis! With their precious berets, and their adorable little schwasticka shields and their droning rhetoric and their delusions of being powerful enough to change the world from their homogeneous hundred-acre farm in the middle of nowhere! This is a great documentary that shows us the nature of fearful racists banding together and find ways to rationalize their hate. When you're lame and from Arkansas, I guess you have to find SOMEthing to do with your time. A great must see. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Disturbing, deeply troubling documentary about the white supremacist movement through history up until 1991 (when the film was made). Never have so many pathetic fools appeared together on my TV screen. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
