Panos Kotzathanasis easternKicks.com Sword of the Assassin is quite accomplished, with the action choreographies by Johnny Nguyen being very impressive and elaborately shot Sep 12, 2020 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com A feast for the eyes with its dazzling colors, far off locations, and vivid costuming. Just make sure you have a pen and a pad handy to keep characterizations in check. Rated: B- Mar 7, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I really enjoyed this film. Stunning scenery and martial arts. Also a story line that kept me hooked. Was easy to follow regardless of subtitles. Was a little cheesy in parts but overall good. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member When the swords are flying, Blood Letter aka Sword of the Assassin is enjoyable. Too bad the acting is stiff for the most part and the characterizations are hazy. The costumes and landscapes sure are pretty, but the main character's magic power isn't even used for most of the film, and the villains are so dimensional its painful. I can commend this film for at least trying, but next time get a better story to match the beauty of the locations. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Let me preface this review by saying I love Kung Fu films however I hate CG and wires in Kung Fu films (think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). So when Blood Letter (more commonly referred to as Sword of the Assassin) worked its way onto my tv screen I was excited to get a taste of Vietnamese Kung Fu however after the opening 10 minutes I knew this wasn't a film for me. Anytime a ninja defies gravity by jumping over a 20 foot wall or summons a fireball from his hands the movie isn't for me. I thought I was watching Dragonball or some sort of Japanese anime and that is never a good thing for me. Sorry but this one is a turkey in my book of great Kung Fu films.
