Kristy Puchko Pajiba Blending elements of crime-thriller and revisionist Western, Blood on Her Name delivers a uniquely exciting experience. Mar 1, 2020 Full Review Cary Darling Houston Chronicle Anchored by a magnetic performance from Bethany Anne Lind ("Ozark") who is in nearly every scene, "Blood on Her Name" is an engrossing exercise in Southern neo-noir that doesn't waste a moment of its marathon-runner lean 83 minutes. Rated: 4/5 Feb 28, 2020 Full Review Odie Henderson RogerEbert.com Allowing the viewer to piece things together on their own is always welcome, but the film's desire to surprise and outwit makes it contrived. Rated: 2/4 Feb 28, 2020 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies The concept is really simple, but it’s the proficient and confident execution that makes this slick southern noir sizzle. Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 19, 2022 Full Review Lindsay Traves CGMagazine It's tense and unrelenting, and a ferocious exploration of moral codes when tested as against an unjust reality. Rated: 8/10 Feb 24, 2021 Full Review Rhys Bowen Jones JumpCut Online The film's short runtime is a benefit to both the story and the viewers; it feels lean and well-paced while also providing a satisfyingly blood-soaked climax. sallie P Great twists, and kept you on edge. A “who gone it” with a unique ending. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/28/20 Full Review Jeffrey P Intriguing from the start; well-acted and well shot. The story is somewhat thin, not sure why it was in the horror section, and leaves you waiting for something, anything, to happen that never fully does. Also, the characters aren't exactly ones to sympathize or empathize or side with which makes the ending not shocking, just solid and deserved. One big positive was that it was mostly unpredictable. Odd movie to review, definitely a role reversal of sorts. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/25/23 Full Review Brad P Blood on Her Name is tense, tough, and tender at the same time. With an outstanding performance from its lead, this neo-noir shouldn't be missed. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Meh. Good acting but it was lacklustre so I blame the director. We watched it only cause of the very high critic rating. Just goes to prove that the audience rating is sometimes a better meter. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Again one of those movies where I don't quite get the high number of positive critics reviews. I found this movie immensely annoying at times. It's really hard to root for a protagonist that is basically portrayed as the stupidest character in the history of cinema. Bethany Anne Lind is awesome in the role but the character acts so annoyingly stupid through most of the movie it's unbelievable. The only thing stopping the movie from falling on its face completely are some actually interesting and believable plot twist that redeem the movie to some extend towards the end. And the final 15 minutes are actually gripping and very well made. Still, could have been much better and not nearly as good as the critcs score suggests. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Down the back of Ogdenville lies nowhere USA,where every day is bad, then something makes it a whole lot worse. Convincing performances on planet real life where weapons are in plentiful supply. Bethany Anne Lind is tremendous, and appears to have gone to the trouble of having a couple of fistfights in preparation for the role. Either that or make up is spot on.The rest of the cast are happy to eat dirt with her too. Don't listen to Roger Ebert. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
