Elisabeth Rohm was born on April 28, 1973 in Dusseldorf, West Germany, Rohm spent the first few years of her life in New York City. Her father was a German-born lawyer, and her mother was a TV writer, best known for her work on the classic soap opera "Guiding Light" (CBS, 1952-2009). When Rohm was nine years old, her parents divorced, and she was sent to St. Andrew's-Sewanee School, a small private boarding school in Sewanee, Tennessee, where she spent grades 3 through 12. Rohm then went on to attend Sarah Lawrence University, where she pursued a double major in writing and European history. In 1997, she began acting professionally, appearing on the soap opera "One Life to Live" (ABC, 1968-2012), and making an uncredited cameo in the Woody Allen comedy "Deconstructing Harry" (1997). Rohm next landed a starring role on the miniseries adaptation of Robert McLiam Wilson's novel "Eureka Street" (BBC Northern Ireland, 1999), and took on her first recurring TV gig, playing Detective Kate Lockley on the first two seasons of the vampire spinoff series "Angel" (The WB, 1999-2004). After her arc on "Angel" ended, Rohm quickly secured yet another series regular gig, spending four seasons playing Assistant D.A. Serena Southerlyn on "Law & Order" (NBC, 1990-2010). Following her exit from the Dick Wolf universe, Rohm bounced around between appearances in films such as "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous" (2005), "Abduction" (2011), "American Hustle" (2013), and "Joy" (2015), while also taking on small arcs on TV, including "The Mentalist" (CBS, 2008-2015), "Heroes" (NBC, 2006-2010), "The Client List" (Lifetime, 2012-2013), "The Last Ship" (TNT, 2014-), and "Hawaii Five-O" (CBS, 2010-). Most recently, Rohm appeared on "NCIS" (CBS, 2003-) and "Jane the Virgin" (The CW, 2014-), and co-starred in the horror film "Wish Upon" (2017).
