This disappointing rites of passage teen angst hybrid is hard work. If not for the presence of Cameron Douglas, son of Michael, combined with Edouard Philipponnat as Aiden, The Runner would be of little interest to anyone.

Surface-level, slick, and vacant, this drug-centric teen drama deals in spoiled, unlikable characters. As a result, it can't generate any suspense or emotions with its by-the-numbers drug-bust story.

The runner follows a troubled teen with no dad that agrees to narc on some local dealers in order to get out of a wrecked porsche. He also accidentally killed his girlfriend when she smoked his weed.
