StephenPaul C The most graphic (and I love it) 01 hour: and 38 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/11/23 Full Review Audience Member 31 Days of Horror (2011): #30 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Under-rated mix of final girl (minus the friend-talities) and mad scientist horror, gone backwoods and repressed by fundamentalism and good ol' boy insanity. The stereotypes, however, are not used as shorthand to avoid at least some sort of crazy motivation for each individual. The citified Saxon and family are the somewhat gullible dupes at first, daughter excepted, for she is wise to the Mad Jake's creepy intent. Walston is barely in the flick, but provides another creepy yet timid contrast. If you're unsure of having seen this before, just check out the memorable vhs box art. The auto mechanic as surgeon scenes hold up well in retrospect, as the low budget fx have more impact due to the innate fear of incompetence. Not to mention the fire and brimstone rants, making Nelson's Jake seem like a countrified psychic surgeon right out of early Tobe Hooper - or the worst nightmare of a Filipino-American Catholic in the deep south. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Blood Salvage is the story of a crazy, super religious, murderous hillbilly (aren't they all) who, along with his two sons, kidnap people from the highway and remove their organs and body parts to sell to a doctor (the late Ray Walston). Mad hillbilly Jake (Danny Nelson) begins taking a liking to a crippled beauty pageant youth April (Lori Birdsong) who resembles his late wife. The family manages to lure April and her family, including her father (the great John Saxon), mother, and younger brother. As the demented family dissects April's family (and a slew of others trapped on the land), April fights to try and escape the house, which seems to be a no-win situation until Jake gives her the ability to use her legs again. Can she escape the demented family, their evil farm, and their pet Alligator alive? Now here is another lost VHS gem that could desperately use a transfer onto DVD. The film is sick, dark, a little gory, and a lot of fun. Any people that incorporates brutal child death/murder always gets high marks in my book. Plus, the film sports a unique, yet very odd Producer in the form of Evander Holyfield, who also has a small, humorous part as a boxer at a local carnival. This is a fun 90's horror movie with a definite 80's feel to it that reminds me of a cross between Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Motel Hell. Fun movie. If you can find a copy of it on VHS, I highly recommend watching it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this movie, I have ever since i was 17!!
