More well known for his producing rather than his directing he has produced films for the likes of Claude Chabrol, Michael Haneke, and Kieslowski's Three Colours trilogy. 'Coup pour Coup' is a documentary style film regarding a group of female workers who go on strike against the textiles factory they work for. The cast is made up of mainly non-professionals, who most are credited as workers or cineastes, it is only the managers and bosses who are played by professional actors. The determination of the women is actually very inspiring, and whilst it may have fuelled some revolutionary spirit inside me it's also a good observation of the time. This was only four years after May 68 and also a year before Godard made the similar 'Tout va Bien'. 'Coup pour Coup' didn't have an easy life when it was first released, no major cinemas would show it and it was prevented from being screened abroad. To this day it's still not an easy film to find, but if you ever do come across it give it a go, I'm sure you'll agree it's worthwhile. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
