Scott B Good as far as it went, but not entirely satisfied Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review lizbeth s Es un elenco encantador Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/22/23 Full Review MariJos 8 Everyone in Easter Cove, Maine has dark secrets, and they all unravel in a day or two - maybe for the better, maybe not. While the film captures the look and feel of a worn-out fishing village (I found the cinematography spot-on for the environment), the plot seemed a bit thin and contrived. As desperate as all the main characters were for change in their bleak lives, I had a hard time believing that they would have done the things they did, past and present. As the two sisters, Morgan Saylor and Sophie Lowe held their own with an ensemble cast of veteran character actors including June Squibb and Margo Martindale. A distracting enough way to pass an hour or so of social distancing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/22/23 Full Review Norm S OK to watch but not much there. Ending made no sense to me. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/11/23 Full Review Mike P A great movie....very well written....very well acted....what goes around, comes around..... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/16/23 Full Review Vicki R It was actually different in a good way and refreshing. The sea shanties provided a nice counterpoint to the rest of the soundtrack and it wasn't stupid and preachy, like so many other movies. Margo Martindale put in a superb performance as a deeply flawed woman, and I love that the movie so deftly handled character development. This is one of those rare movies that doesn't shy away from logical outcomes. I do think they could have paid a little more attention to a couple of the older men, particularly Bob of the Bob/Susie dynamic. That would have filled in a few gaps imo, and seeing the interplay of that old married couple would have broadened the appeal. Nell Minow AWFJ.org What a pleasure to see actors like June Squibb, Margo Martindale, and Annette O'Toole in roles that usually go to men, complex, wily, and tough. Nov 30, 2021 Full Review David Fear Rolling Stone A tightening of the screws would have helped this thriller immensely. But Cole and Krudy are after something a little different here than just two sister and one downward spiral. Rated: 3/5 Feb 7, 2021 Full Review Scott Tobias NPR It's normally not a great sign when the lead characters are less compelling than anything around them, but the Connollys' predicament opens up the weird bits of village mythology and feminine conspiracy that secretly drives the film forward. Feb 7, 2021 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) A perfectly icy thriller. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review M.N. Miller Ready Steady Cut It’s an original story, which is rare, that is different, and you find an appreciation will build as the quarantined days melt together. Rated: 3/5 Aug 28, 2022 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies It doesn’t all flesh out perfectly but the twists keep you guessing and the film really sticks its finish.
