Audience Member Australia is voiciferous about its film industry. These days Kidman, Jackman et al can easily outsmart the Yankee big guns at their own game. Back in the 1970s it was a different story as a certain sense of value was to the forefront as much as the quick fire entertainment fix. This one is a mid-paced equine drama about a tomboy dealing with a grieving father who doesn't want to see a repeat of the tragedy that befell her mother. As with Aussie drama, there are tense moments which sit alongside a quirky humour that sometimes becomes far too self-aware. For 'Blue Fire Lady' though, there is a lot of nicely crafted dualisms to keep the plot moving along sharply. It won't change the world, although you could a lot worse than spend 90 minutes in its company.
