When Jane Messina is summoned home to visit her two sisters and her ailing father, she's forced to re-evaluate her life, and to wonder what could have been. Blue Eyed Girl is a coming-of-age story, just at the age of forty, not fifteen. It's about marriage, midlife, chasing dreams, and most of all, it's about reconciling who you are, with who you thought you might be.

Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Melodramatic contrivances overwhelm the heartfelt intentions in this saga of grief and healing. Nov 29, 2025 Full Review Christie Cronan Common Sense Media Blue Eyed Girl takes a hard look at midlife and tears it apart, offering a raw, emotional reflection about being at the crossroads of our past and our present and coming to terms with our dreams—and our realities. Rated: 4/5 Nov 25, 2025 Full Review Neely Swanson Easy Reader (California) A story that’s been told before but tell it well and it’s worthwhile to revisit. “Blue Eyed Girl” is told very well with a winning cast of characters, the very definition of an independent film. Nov 24, 2025 Full Review Peter Gray The AU Review [Marisa] Coughlan has always been a standout performer, if underappreciated, and both her comedic capabilities and emotional depth help Blue Eyed Girl elevate any of its standard structure. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 22, 2025 Full Review Simon Foster Screen-Space (Substack) The pic’s sweet and soulful centre is the lovely Marisa Coughlan, working from her own script; [she] finds a warm truth as ‘Jane’, the 40-ish L.A. mum suddenly faced with a lot of emotional Midwest baggage and bittersweet mature-age dramatics. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 20, 2025 Full Review Joseph Tomastik Loud and Clear Reviews It bends itself around a contrived and hollow romcom plot that, in turn, leaves the rest of its material underserved. Carl B I went in not knowing anything about this movie except that it had Ursula from Super Troopers in it. I was pleasantly surprised! It's a really great film. It's very well written and has a ton of great performances - a particular stand out is Eliza Coupe, she's hilarious. If you are looking for a moving story with great characters check out this under the radar gem. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/01/25 Full Review Will C. It rang a bell for me and, I suspect, it will for others. We've all had relationships with people ( and places) that might have been worth pursuing. We moved on, but sometimes wonder about what might have been. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/29/25 Full Review Jjjj P Sweet, funny, charming Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/29/25 Full Review Jennifer H This was such a relatable movie to so many as we deal with aging parents, siblings and wondering if we have made the right life choices. I loved the combination of drama and comedy along with beautiful scenery. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/25 Full Review Mary M Blue Eyed Girl is a moving, honest film about accepting who you truly are—rather than the person you once dreamed you’d become. Marisa Coughlan shines, delivering a heartfelt performance that captures the bittersweet shift from youthful ambition to adult self-understanding. The supporting cast is perfectly chosen, blending heart and just the right amount of comedy to make the story feel real and wonderfully human. What makes the film stand out is its sincerity. It gently explores nostalgia, identity, and the courage it takes to let go of an old version of yourself. Thoughtful, relatable, and beautifully acted, Blue Eyed Girl is a must-see. Mjm1952 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/25 Full Review Stacey O What a wonderful little movie! Totally recognizable cast who portrays a relatable story. A woman comes home to her ailing father and runs in to her high school love. The whole experience makes her question her whole life. This movie is filled with love and fun. It will make you laugh in cry in all the good ways. A refreshing, fun movie! Highly recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/25 Full Review Read all reviews
