Connor J @Connor73 6d There is a rare kind of magic in Blue Eyed Girl, led by the stunning and moving lead, Marisa Coughlan (Jane), is a heartfelt storyline of love and loss and growth , we all can deeply relate to, illuminated by magnificent cinematography capturing the Midwest in its truest form. The rekindling dance between distant sisters, the unspoken tension of a marriage at a crossroads, and the tender moments of a daughter rediscovering her father , entertwined with love, humour and truth, made this film captivating in all senses. It also offers a great reminder of what it means being true to yourself , and to the ones you love, no matter how far away you are , your home in each others hearts will always eternally be. The story feels uneven, lacking the intensity of a true drama while also never finding enough levity to function as dark comedy. The screenplay is flat, with scenes that drag and pivotal moments that fail to land, leaving the audience disengaged from the characters’ struggles. Performances are uneven; while some actors show glimpses of authenticity, key emotional beats, especially surrounding the father, feel inconsistent and underdeveloped. Direction doesn’t help, with pacing issues and little focus on building tension or connection. Overall, Blue Eyed Girl has potential but falters in execution, resulting in a tiresome and uninspired film that fails to engage, leaving it difficult to recommend. See more Carl B Dec 1 I went in not knowing anything about this movie except that it had Ursula from Super Troopers in it. I was pleasantly surprised! It's a really great film. It's very well written and has a ton of great performances - a particular stand out is Eliza Coupe, she's hilarious.
