Shannon Keating BuzzFeed News Inside felt like a hilariously disturbing, and disturbingly hilarious, deep dive into my own internet-addled brain. Apr 5, 2022 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Though his Netflix pandemic special focuses on home confinement, it's entertaining enough - and beautiful enough - to work in a theater. Rated: 3/4 Jul 23, 2021 Full Review Melanie McFarland Salon.com Maybe five years from now it, too, will be hailed as a classic. Or, once the apathy subsides and we all transition out of the liminal space between lockdown and full reopening, maybe we'll recall it, vaguely, as some decent content about and of its time. Jun 16, 2021 Full Review William Stottor Loud and Clear Reviews One of the greatest films to emerge from the pandemic, an always funny, frequently scathing and often emotional tour-de-force of comedy. Rated: 5/5 Jul 11, 2024 Full Review Savina Petkova A Good Movie To Watch This one goes straight to the world heritage lockdown archives. Rated: 8.4/10 Oct 29, 2023 Full Review Brett Doze InSession Film I laughed through multiple viewings of Burnham’s song-filled reflections on living through the pandemic, though it’s the deep personal moments that stick with me. Kevin P Bo Burnham makes the most of his limited scope and budget during the pandemic with his creative anthology comedy musical one-man-show. It’s impressive how entertaining and visually delightful this movie can be despite all taking place in one room and being produced by a single person. The songs are very catchy and biting with satire on how desensitized we have become to the world’s ever-growing chaos. There’s some great self-reflection and it felt like a very personal inside look into Bo Burnham’s psyche over the course of a year of living in a post-Covid world. I only occasionally watched Bo Burnham before this Netflix special, and it was a great introduction that makes me excited to see what next he has in store for us. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/25 Full Review Jeremy K Had a hard time watching this even though my girlfriend loved it. All the songs seemed to last 3 minutes too long and did nothing but repeat themselves. They give set up and punchline then repeat the same conclusions without end. Could have been decent for a neuro typical who likes trashy pop music i guess Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/13/25 Full Review Samuel W If you were to condense all of the two years of the pandemic that was COVID-19, you would get INSIDE. The hints of suicidal tones, the mess that is a production when you are in the head of an anxious, depressed mind, and the pain that is creativity at times, are all very evident here. In a personal way, this film is a Hell I have faced many times myself, and is an encouraging piece of work to replenish the creative and logistical mind. Bo Burnham creates an atmosphere that is almost terrifying, but very close to the embodiment of how life was in 2020-2021. The music is well-done, the visuals are absolutely astonishing even when placed in one single living area, and the excellency of hurt that Bo portrays is absolutely incredible while also portraying how terrible production and directing can be at times. The B-roll alone is chaotic, but comprehensive when put together altogether in the scope of the mind of Bo. Burnham’s masterpiece should live as a monument in our history books for being the best descriptor of the isolation we faced as an entire world. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/01/25 Full Review Audience Member One of the best movies I’ve ever seen! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/29/24 Full Review Audience Member This man complaining about being sad, during the time that everyone was sad, yet he had loads of a money, a beautiful wife, an apartment in New York City and a huge amount of adoring fans, the most out of touch movie I have ever watched. The songs in this movie feel like listening to kids bop whilst actively greening out, truly a hellish soundscape. All In all terrible movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Michael B Bo Burnham is the only one to properly work through the collective trauma that was quarantine, and we are all better for it. Go to therapy, or become the subject of this piece. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/28/24 Full Review Read all reviews
