      Critics Consensus

Body Brokers attempts an ambitious juggling act between genre thrills and a serious social message -- and unfortunately fumbles a little too often to really pull it off.

Don J Now I understand why the insurance costs skyrocketed after Obamacare. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/17/23 Full Review True and happing today and everyday in Phoenix . Native Americans are number one targets due to reimbursement from insurance. Crazy thing is most of the groups homes and clinics are all being run by Africa Americans. This movie hits right on the $$ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Vera A I'd recommend this movie.....it's freaky as hell how much money is twisted into drug rehab places, and how they are all about the $$$. Parts were comical in an ironic way, and others creepy. The end was crappy what went down with Utah! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is essentially a 2 hour Public Service Announcement. The pacing is horrifically slow, the message is lost in the poor dialogue, and the ending is frustratingly anti-climatic. It is as if the filmmakers simply wanted to give the audience a giant middle finger for not living up to their expectations. Phil Hoad Guardian Given the originality of Swab's take, it's a shame he couldn't find the film a more appropriate style: at heart it is a more sober film intent on declaring its outrage. Rated: 3/5 Mar 1, 2021 Full Review Peter Debruge Variety An entertaining and eye-opening insider's take on the treatment racket. Feb 20, 2021 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times An explosion of stylish crime... Rated: 3/4 Feb 20, 2021 Full Review Joanne Laurier World Socialist Web Site “This is a film about where capitalism fails addicts,” Swab comments. Of course, mass drug addiction is already an expression of capitalism’s massive failure and growing crisis. In any case, Body Brokers shines a light on one of its many graveyards. Jul 1, 2022 Full Review Josh Parham Next Best Picture The banal filmmaking doesn't aid in the dragging pace, nor does the superficial screenplay find any real inventive means to comment on its empty themes. Rated: 4/10 Jun 5, 2022 Full Review Daniel Gorman In Review Online The film rallies for a bracing finale, but despite the bold ending, Body Brokers never manages to rise above being a noble failure.
