Brian De Palma's much-heralded film is much ado about not very much, a good idea that opens strong and goes wrong within minutes. Go to Full Review

It's an expertly crafted B-movie, a brisk and twisty mixture of the slick and sleazy, the glossy and grungy. Go to Full Review

…was considered to be a misfire, and despite the commercial nature of the film and music, didn’t catch a wave of interest despite the racy content. But it’s one of De Palma’s more interesting failures, with striking stagings and lots of visual interest. Go to Full Review

As modern audiences tend to hem and haw over titillation, now seems like a good time to remember that it’s ok to watch, just maybe not get involved (without consent, of course). Go to Full Review

Taha C Dec 3 An excellent movie that one doesn’t truly appreciate until it’s sunk in for a day or two. There is a lot of nudity but it’s needed for the plot to work. Very reminiscent of an Alfred Hitchcock work. See more Rami A Sep 21 Director Brian De Palma has once again proven himself to be the modern Alfred Hitchcock. Unlike many who tend to parody or copy Hitchcock, De Palma pays homage to the man as he blends old and new filmmaking techniques. See more Blu B Jul 26 One of the most insane things that's not a David Lynch film I've ever seen. I could talk about the fundamentals here but I don't even think I can list them all but here we go. -The first 30 minutes is kinda slow, takes it's time, and isn't as strong technically as the rest of the film. It's good but the thing is were still grounded in some semblance of reality. -Once that 15 minute trailing scene starts the film leaps out into the stratosphere and never returns. DePalma's trademark direction kicks into full gear and everything just takes a big jump in quality. -The love for Hitchcock's Rear Window, Vertigo, and Noirs is on full display here as much as the erotic elements. -This came out in 84' but it feels like a 70's movie. -The plot gets absolutely insane -THE PLOT GETS ABSOLUTELY INSANE -"Relax"...Just wow -There are a couple of plot conviences/farfetched moments but the film making on display is so first rate and the plot is so unpredictable that it is so easy to suspend disbelief. A testament to how well made this is. Even though the farfetched moments are the biggest issues here...I would'nt change them because it works so well. -This film is Hitchcock mixed with eroticism. -It's kind of meta and I'm 40% sure it's self aware but it's so nutty and my jaw is on the floor so I can't really make up my mind. Anyone who is a fan of thrillers, DePalma, any actors in this, or murder should check this out.
