See more Leon H @RT13589101 Jul 28 I'm in my mid fifties and had watched most of de Palma's movies before seeing this. I've got to say that if this had been the first of his films I'd watched, I'd have been put off finding his best work. This is sub-par Hitchcock homage - throwing in both Rear Window and Vertigo - with a horrible score which becomes Bernard Hermann Psycho-lite towards the end. Terrible story and script, hammy performances, and an obvious twist that was sign posted from the first scene of the husband hitting the wife, viewed through the telescope. There are far too many plot holes to ignore without becoming irritated. It looks cheaply made and badly edited. It's also fairly boring and just too stupid. Avoid! See more Torin F @nonlinearize Dec 31 BODY DOUBLE doesn't seem like the kind of a film that a mid-career star Hollywood director would make, and that's definitely part of its charm: it's a B movie with brains. A sexy, sleazy neo-noir erotic thriller that also serves as an engrossing love letter to Los Angeles, filmmaking and the film industry, cheap thrills, Hitchcock, and more. It doesn't all hang together perfectly—clunky plot, moments of melodrama, some garish violence, etc—but there's a lot that works too, in a way that both exemplifies and critiques 80's excess.
