Critics Consensus

A juvenile, ugly movie that represents the worst tendencies of directors channeling Tarantino.

J. R. Jones Chicago Reader A macho bloodbath with a lot of juvenile humor and fake Catholic mysticism... Jul 14, 2022 Full Review Nathan Rabin AV Club Satire or self-parody would be vastly preferable to the film's unironic endorsement of outlaw justice, but you'd be hard pressed to find anything resembling irony or subversiveness in this exercise in lovingly rendered ultra-violence. Jul 26, 2011 Full Review Nick Schager Lessons of Darkness [A] dim-witted, aesthetically clunky Tarantino clone. Rated: C- Oct 23, 2009 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The entire production feels uneven, shoddy, and offensively oxymoronic. Rated: 0.5/4 Aug 30, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins An enthralling gangster epic, a solid action film, and a jolting vigilante-justice crime caper. Rated: 7/10 Sep 10, 2020 Full Review Ed Travis Hollywood Jesus The Boondock Saints, on one level, is a really great direct-to-video cult film. Stylish, defiantly endearing, and even borderline iconic. Apr 10, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Steven P Best St.Patricks Day movie ever! If you are a male from New England and haven't seen this movie go put it on now. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review Johan S I thourouhgly enjoyed this movie... The casting is magnificent. Now I know technically there's story issues but wtf, easily ignored so as to enjoy it anyways. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/29/25 Full Review Hamilton C One word defines this film from start to finish. Fun. This film knows exactly what it is, a wacky, action packed dark comedy with a great cast and music. I went into this film extremely sceptical, but left understanding it's deserved cult status. The cast, particularly Willem Defoe, give a funny and surprisingly well acted performance (despite the films low budget). The music is awe inspiring. The overall tone and symbolism in the film are very enjoyable. Some things that hold the film back are a few plot holes/odd lines in the scrip, but these are soon forgotten as you sit back and watch the surprisingly well shot action scenes. This film is a must watch for any action comedy fans. 9/10. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/27/25 Full Review Ian H Norman Reedus can't do an Irish accent. Fun in parts Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review Jacki M An absolute Cult classic Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review Rafael M A true classic, every St.Patty's day i watch it over a Guinness 🍻🤙🏾 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews
