Manny Farber The Nation [Milton Holmes] is a born story-teller even if his stuff runs to pulp. kevin w William Holden as an once upright guy doing the agonizingly slow slide into corruption and dissipation, and how, fueled by his desolation demons due to the death of his wife and daughter and his best bud. An upright kid offers him the chance for a turnaround...if only he'd take it. That it all happens around the racetrack only adds atmosphere. Good stuff. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member William Holden plays a down on his luck jockey manager who sees a chance at success again in a young jockey. The story is fairly unoriginal and cliched, but Holden playing a rather shady character along the lines of Sefton from "Stalag 17" which the very "The Champ" like story a bit more interesting. Ed Begley and Harry Morgan also appear. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
