Ben Sachs Chicago Reader I found this compelling as I watched it, though I don't feel I gained much from the experience. Feb 29, 2020 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Like a mating between the mind of David Cronenberg and something that crawled out of a compost heap. Rated: 4/5 Mar 10, 2019 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times The film huddles closely around a personality whose courage and determination invite great empathy. Rated: 5/5 Mar 8, 2019 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …a very strange high-concept piece…tricky, dank and obscure at times, it’s dealing with real world issues through decidedly downbeat fantasy...more than oddball enough to recommend to those who seek movies well outside the mainstream… Rated: 4/5 Sep 3, 2024 Full Review Calum Cooper Source (Scotland) It’s an unpredictable pathway from its opening frame to its closing credits, taking us on a journey through harrowing moments contrasted with gorgeous cinematography and immaculate direction. Rated: 3/5 Jul 14, 2024 Full Review Sarah Vincent Sarah G Vincent Views Melander and Milonoff are fearless actors in the way that they convey their characters’ joy and surprise in finally finding their match and being able to live fully as themselves. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/05/25 Full Review SA G One of the most bizarre, creative movies I've seen in a long time. An absolute thriller mystery that knocks your socks off! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Jens B A beautiful love story wrapped in a Swedish crime story plot, the kind you could find on the ARD media library. Everything about Tina's self-discovery and first love touched me deeply. Abbasi finds a way to convey his concerns to the world in subtle nuances. The crime story construct is also important for these concerns, but here it all becomes too blatant for me. Some dialogue no longer feels natural, but rather constructed solely for the audience's aha! moment. And that's a real shame. Because the interplay of love story and crime story, a slow and methodical pacing, and two wonderful leading actors give "Gräns" a slowly but surely building emotional impact that leaves you thinking for a while after the credits roll. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/19/25 Full Review Dallas H This movie's storyline went somewhere I was honestly not expecting. I will have to wait a while and then return for a re-watch to adjust my reaction to it accordingly. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Elena B "I don't want to hurt anyone. Is it human to think that way?" A great movie, thought provoking and liberating for the soul. I also loved the folklore and the brilliant self-expression in the face of societal constraints. One reviewer here said it was difficult to like something so different. This may have been the point of the movie, to make us aware of how limited our thinking can be at times.
