Leslie Felperin Guardian You can respect that it was made for a fraction of the cost of the average, similarly politically superficial American action-thriller, but that doesn't make the failure any more noble. Rated: 2/5 Apr 30, 2015 Full Review Rebecca Hawkes Daily Telegraph (UK) Ultimately, despite all its toughness, the film's flaws make it a little too vulnerable to stand up on its own. Rated: 2/5 Apr 30, 2015 Full Review Ben Nicholson CineVue Conceptually, Born of War sounds like a winner, but in reality more resembles the ravaged ruins of its war-torn setting. Audience Member What an awful, awful film. The cinematography is the only redeeming feature. The direction and script were awful the acting wooden. There were more plot holes than plot. It was a low cost movie which failed to live up to the meagre budget. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I personally don't understand why this movie scored so low when I actually enjoyed it. It's definitely not a favourite of mine, and Mina was a character that I struggled to relate to. However as always James Frain just gave a spot on perfect performance which really is the main reason I enjoyed the film so much! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Clunky, generally awful. The DVD box looked like Homeland but now I see the original graphics thinks make far more sense. The cinematography is moderately good, but the plot and dialogue is the quality of a 1990s young adult spy/action novella. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Well where can I start... This film could have been something decent. It's flimsy like a rotten flip flop threatening to fall apart at anytime. There is some strange relationship between Mina (teenager) and some forty something bloke which wrongly has a romantic feel to it... which has coincidentally as much tension as a wet fish. Mina is fickle in her feeling towards all other characters and is less than convincing. she disappointingly loses the ability to use skills she perfect but magically knows how to do things she really wouldn't know about. Highlight: Bedford features in the film and look out for the old handbag around the chops move. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one to watch...it's gripping and exciting - keeps you on the edge of your seat. Great story and very well directed by Vicky Jewson. Beautifully shot and great performances from Sofia Black D'elia, James Frain and Philip Arditti.
