Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …the kind of brutal, atavistic film that they stopped making by the 70’s because it was probably making things worse; if you can stand the company of the dirtiest, nastiest gangsters imaginable, this will put hair on your chest, and everywhere else… Rated: 4/5 Apr 30, 2024 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... have no illusion that the so-called criminal code of “The Family” is anything but a hoax dreamed up by the bosses to keep the soldiers in line. Sep 9, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies The story may have the markings of a conventional mob tale, but Di Leo’s shrewdly absorbing script and direction brings a fresh feel to what is a pretty straightforward genre flick. Audience Member Italian mafia flick includes lots of gratuitous violence and nudity and - as such - has a cult following. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Hilarisch acteerwerk! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Henry Silva is the absolute BOMB as a hitman caught in the middle of a mob war, and he spends most of his time holed up in a little fuckpad with a mafia boss's daughter, who is a real bitch in heat and keeps him busy when she's not bitching non-stop about EVERYTHING. Great little film, they really don't make them like this anymore. Recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member One mean dude, Henry Silva ignites a mob war after launching an explosive attack against a private porno theater. Lots of stern looks, shootings, stabbings, and screaming. The Boss is not the best Italian Crime film I've ever seen (right now that's Live Like A Cop, Die Like A Man) but if those dubbed dialog sequences didn't get in the way of Silva's violent rages than just maybe it would take the title. Antonia Santilli seems to really enjoy her kidnapping and I loved her brash, snooty attitude after slutting it up with all of the Italian Underworld. VF. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Welcome to the wonderful world of "Poliziottesco" , a sub-genre of Italian film popular in the mid 70's, notable for it's complete lack of grey area sentimentality, gratuitous helpings of gun play, violence, gangsters, crooked cops, cheap meaningless sex, fuzz-tone soundtracks, and expatriate actors slumming to the highest level. Henry Silva gets my undisputed award for having the meanest mug ever in cinematic history [sorry Lee Van Cleef and Danny Trejo] and he's perfect as Lanzetti, the hit man for Don Corrasco [Richard Conte aka Barzini in The Godfather]. Silva does his best to exterminate the rival Don Cocchi's gang, an awesome villain who is so greasy he'd keep Crisco in business for a decade. However, the usual dirty cops, duplicitous females, and double crosses ensue, and soon our anti hero is looking out for #1, spraying the country side with lead. These films are a load of fun, and Il Boss is one of the best, but despite it's reputation, I have seen better! [Lenzi's Almost Human comes to mind]. However, Il Boss would make as fine of an intro to this genre as any, so put a few steaks on the grill, crack a cold one, call the boys, and buy the ol' lady and her sister a couple of tickets to the opera this weekend - Poliziottesco films make a UFC match look like a poetry reading. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Last of Di Leo's organized crime trilogy with Henry Silva pulling the trigger!
