When BELLA realizes her mentally ill uncle/stepfather GORDY hid her college acceptance letter, she kicks him out of the house for the last time... so she thinks. When her mother YEVA allows Gordy back, Bella and her pocket squirrel BANDIT bolt to NYC with no money, no friends, no roof, and too much pride to turn back. With help from MARTA, an undocumented immigrant, OWAIS, a lonely vet, and STANDRICK, an insecure designer, Bella thrives, until she discovers an unlikely and horrifying connection. This revelation propels Bella to act without consulting her new "found family" and the results are devastating. Bella and her friends concoct a dark dangerous plan to break free from Gordy forever. The plan works, then fails, then works, and then fails. It finally corrects itself with the help of the unlikeliest person, but in the most heart-wrenching, tragic way.

Christopher Tuan Kiet N Bound is a rare film that stares honestly at the cycles of violence and the small, hard-won triumphs of survival. Isaac Hirotsu Woofter’s direction brings out a quietly devastating portrait of a young woman’s fight to reclaim her life, anchoring the story in authentic emotion and moments of hope that feel both fragile and hard-earned. Alexandra Faye Sadeghian’s performance as Bella is the soul of the film—balancing fear, resilience, and a longing for something better, all with a subtlety that makes her journey resonate long after the credits. Bryant Carroll’s Gordy is deeply unsettling, yet never one-note; the complexity in his portrayal speaks to the tangled realities of abuse. What struck me most is how Bound gives weight to the quieter acts of kindness—the strangers in the city who become Bella’s unlikely family, and the ways compassion can open the door to healing. The film doesn’t flinch from showing darkness, but it also believes in the possibility of light. The city itself becomes a landscape for both danger and renewal, echoing Bella’s own internal struggle. Even as the story shifts into thriller territory, the emotional core remains. Woofter’s script and direction keep the characters grounded, and the ensemble cast (including Ramin Karimloo, Jaye Alexander, and Jessica Pimentel) each bring humanity and depth to the world Bella inhabits. Bound is more than a drama about escape—it’s a testament to survival, the complexity of healing, and the quiet power of finding connection in the unlikeliest of places. I left the film moved and grateful, reminded of how art can witness pain while still making space for hope. A very unique story, great performances, and a fricking flying squirrel!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/02/25 Full Review Lucy W Yes! More movies like this please! Great tension throughout and I never knew what was going to happen! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/30/25 Full Review April W This was not an easy watch, but it is an important one. It's a really powerful film that deals with some tough topics, but handles them with realistically and with class. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/29/25 Full Review Paulie G I love me a gritty New York film! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/25 Full Review JD L Great visual storytelling that leave little clues as to what will happen, like Hansel and Gretal's crumbs as opposed to dumbing it down and spelling it out for the audience.
