      Critics Consensus

Boundaries benefits from a stellar performance by the reliably excellent Christopher Plummer, but his work is overwhelmed by the mediocre movie that surrounds it.

Georgan G 3 & 1/4 stars. Really enjoyed seeing Christopher Plummer portray an old hippie pot dealer. It is a wacky kind of comedy about communication, acceptance & love. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/16/24 Full Review Mariska V Blaspheming is offensive and disrespectful. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/04/24 Full Review Patrick M It's all about nothing , everyone's dysfunctional . But at face value a Stella cast: really very tuned to their characters , a delight see them obviously enjoying working together. Sadly probably the last capture of a very good talent of Peter Fonda & Christopher plumber on celuloid. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/01/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a strange yet decent road trip film. There are alot of what seem to be cringe worthy moments which seem to bring down the film. It does get funny and brings the drama and brings those good what's going to happen next moments it is just a bit strange. It is cute with the animals though and is not a terrible movie and is not a very good one either. I reccomend Green Book, another road trip movie that came out in 2018 and won best picture, especially cause of the way it is shot, but Boundaries is fine. 3 to 3 and a half. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Boundaries is a cute little film that benefits mainly from the great performances especially from Christopher Plummer. The film has some laughs and it’s an entertaining enough road trip film but the story and script both could’ve been better. Things get a little predictable in the end and I just wish that we had better writing. Christopher Plummer pretty much makes this movie. He’s a hoot to watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/21 Full Review Audience Member Underrated. I found it heartwarming and often funny. The cast is fantastic. Especially Plummer. Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader The father's chicanery is the brightest spot in a screenplay that makes the heroine a shrill stooge for everyone else's agenda as the protagonists bicker their way to self-discovery and mutual regard. Mar 4, 2020 Full Review Josh Kupecki Austin Chronicle Boundaries keeps the syrup on medium, and Plummer looks like he's having a ball. If you have a penchant for broken wing syndrome, you may want to let this one into your life. Rated: 3/5 Jul 12, 2018 Full Review Peter Howell Toronto Star A movie with no reason to exist apart from setting into motion an otherwise interesting cast, led by Christopher Plummer and Vera Farmiga. Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 5, 2018 Full Review David Bax Battleship Pretension Even before Boundaries' tired plot grinds into motion, your patience may already be worn thin by the introduction of only the first of its many grating characters. Dec 10, 2020 Full Review Matthew St. Clair Cinema Sentries Boundaries may not exactly cross any new ones. Yet, it still works as a piece of heartfelt escapism thanks to its simplistic storyline. Oct 8, 2020 Full Review Matt Cipolla Film Monthly It isn't that Boundaries is a long movie, not at all. It's that every moment feels like a quirky, twee cliché, straining so hard to be cute and never feeling remotely authentic. Rated: 1.5/5 Jul 24, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
