Kirk Honeycutt The Hollywood Reporter An intriguing, low-budget look at a young vigilante whose "heroism" comes with much moral ambivalence. Nov 17, 2011 Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader Sometimes I think vigilante dramas would be more tolerable if they were pure violent payback, without all the moral grandstanding about our flawed criminal justice system. Oct 27, 2011 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times I started watching it with moderate expectations and was surprised by how quickly I was drawn in; the movie works insistently on an emotional level. Rated: 3.5/4 Oct 27, 2011 Full Review Brent McKnight The Last Thing I See A near perfect combination of grim revenge movie and dark superhero origin story. Vincent R A seething anger forces a seemingly withdrawn teenager into a life of fighting crime. To avenge his mother’s brutal killing a young man dedicates his life to physical training, studying the law, chemistry and available evidence to find who and why someone killed his mother. His life has been molded by his past family trauma, and his ex-alcoholic father’s questionable past has us both questioning this teenager’s choices, and his perception of the world around him. He sees things other people don’t see - often times letting his rage cloud reality. The flashes of his visions convince us that he is surrounded by terrible people, but the reality is not always what we see. Is what he senses anger or therapy for him? How do you fight back against people who skirt the law and prey on the people around them? The answer is brutality, unrelenting brutality, without remorse, or holding back - even at the expense of trying to live a normal life. Bullies only know one language, and Sean Donavan has trained himself for a lifetime to speak the only language they understand. A language of violence and revenge. When I watch this movie I feel rage, I feel vengeance and I feel vindication. I want to believe that evil people get what’s due to them… The ending is powerful and emotional, and well worth the long build up. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/18/25 Full Review Justin W This movie is a real sleeper. I had never even heard of it until randomly finding it on Tubi. It is not as simple as just being a revenge flick, the plot goes much deeper than most of those types of films. The characters are written really well and the acting is superb. This is a story of the results of an abusive father and the toll it can take on the mind of a child. It is a pretty dark and bleak story, but is done in such a way that keeps you interested and holy crap that ending! Caleb Steinmeyer does an amazing job in the lead, and I had never seen him before or since. What happened to him? Anyway, this movie is dark, gripping, and paced well. Great movie, great characters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/13/25 Full Review Audience Member How far would an emotionally troubled young man go to mete out the justice he feels is necessary in an endlessly corrupt world filled with manipulative and aggressive bullies? How warped would his view on the world be if his own father might have been complicit in the murder of his mother? This isn't a super-hero movie, although it is. The young man in the movie is not invincible, he is not "more informed" than others and he has no adherence to laws or social norms to contain his fury. He is thoughtful, empathetic and confused…and his inner rage is easy to let loose on the true bullies in this world. He has dedicated his entire existence to the tools needed to beat criminals into the bloody pulp we all think they deserve. A great soundtrack envelops this film, and the main character embodies the rage we all feel when justice seems improperly meted out. I love this movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie. I don't know why the "critics" had such bad things to say. I think the ending is great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Low budget but a great thriller. Batman without the money! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member The ending is without doubt the best ending i have ever seen (spoiler) The movie could have been better but the ending was jaw dropping! If u did not pay attention you wouldnt have noticed "triceleron" an untraceable poision that shawn had put onto the envelope ✉️ I cant get over it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
