Audience Member Vaguely funny from time to time and featuring a good effort from Glenn Robbins and Mick Molloy, Boytown suffers from poor execution, lack of direction and use of predictable cliches as it builds up to a questionable endin.g Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member So much promise with a great Aussie cast, but sadly it didn't live up to it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This film, if it weren't for the charm of the Aussie cast, would feel a lot more mediocre than it ends up being. Glenn Robbins, Mick Molloy, Bob Franklin, Wayne Hope and Gary Eck star as BoyTown, the greatest boy band in the world. Or, they were. With supporting roles from Sally Phillips, Lachy Hulme and Tony Martin, and cameos from Josh Lawson, Ed Kavalee, Akmal Saleh, Rick Mathieson and Robyn Butler, BoyTown's cast shows a lot of Australia's local talent that doesn't go overseas (although Lawson is trying). And what results is a satisfactory parody of boy bands and the music industry in general. The ending was, to me, slightly unneccesary and taints the rest of the film, but it does highlight the parody again. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member They would have had some laughs making this!! But it was Bloody terrible!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member There is something both disturbing and hilarious about five grown men wearing linen suits and riding shetland ponies. This is really very amusing in parts but falls right down at the end - much better than I expected however. The songs are great. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Very funny (which earns it the extra star) but a bit more serious than I thought it would be. Glen Robbins is a genius.
