What to Know

Critics Consensus

Bride of Chucky is devoid of any fright and the franchise has become tiresomely self-parodic, although horror fans may find some pleasure in this fourth entry's camp factor.

Xan Brooks Independent (UK) Bride of Chucky strings together a series of humorous asides and knee-jerk shock tactics. I had a hard time staying awake during this because it was so boring and the jokes were all low hanging fruit. Chucky used to be dark and scary. What happened?? Rated: 1/5 Oct 3, 2024 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn This was a painful watch. The decision to lean into a more comedic tone felt like a death nail to this franchise. Jennifer Tilly did her best but it wasn't enough to save this. Ray Best Chucky movie hands down so happy to see it return to theaters 🫶🏻 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Jesse It's always great to see Chucky back in theaters! Aside from the original, this is my second favorite entry. #savechucky Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Kevin It was amazing seeing Bride of Chucky for the first time in theaters. It has always been one of my favorites in the franchise. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review K K Lol. Laugh yes at this scary humor movie. Although I would not call it scary, rather a comedy with some blood in it. A guilty pleasure? No not really as I have no guilt in enjoying this movie! What makes this movie so effective is the star, Tilly. The way the character mocks things, including herself, is hilarious. Tilly delivers the character's lines with perfection! There is so much humor throughout the movie. Taking this movie in a much different direction than the first Chucky movie, which was more of a scary movie. This movie, like the character Tilly played, is so engaging that it makes for a fun ride. This movie does not take itself too seriously, rather tries to entertain, and it does at times in SPADES. The getting the "hidden" candy bar to not be caught or seen made me go "Ok good it is not just me who does these things". I can also watch these Chucky movies and not keep thinking "how in the world does Chucky's battery not run out after doing all these things" as Chucky is the spirit that took possession of the doll. I know attempting to put too much logic into these sorts of movies is not beneficial for fun. Yet when I see a movie with a robot doll that goes on and on killing, jumping, running around without charging, I think "how in the world, when my cell phone is lucky to get through half a day?"!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/06/25 Full Review Matthew H Awesome when chucky went comedic horror definitely recommend Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/05/25 Full Review Alex S When you look at the title, Bride of Chucky, you’re not just getting Chucky’s Bride of Frankenstein; you’re also getting an advertising horror fun factor for fans of the Chucky series. However, given the nature of the film, there’s no reason to expect a compelling script to save it. Jennifer Tilly delivers a memorable performance as Tiffany, which will delight horror enthusiasts.
