peter a Brief Ecstasy was the original UK title for this film, and it was released on August 17 1937, not 2012 as shown here on Rotten Tomatoes. For a relatively-unknown film, it featured some top-shelf talent for the period: top-billed Paul Lukas (think best picture Oscar for Watch on the Rhine in 1943), and Ronald Neame (as cinematographer). The film was shot at the legendary Ealing Studios in London, and is available on DVD on "The Ealing Studios Rarities Collection Volume 2." Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Ealing film (1937). Similar in theme to brief encounter, as a couple fall in love but he has to go to India, she then gets married to another guy only for him to come back. Awkward.
