      Frank S I found this movie on SBS on Demand a free to air service in Australia. How on earth was it allowed to be released astounds me. I felt so sorry for Sophia Loren having to co star with Richard Burton who seemed to be completely out of his depth. The story which began life as a short play called "Still Life" in 1936, starring the author Noel Coward and Gertrude Lawrence. In 1945 an unforgettable film re titled "Brief Encounter" which starred Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard, directed by David Lean, with dialogue by Noel Coward, and sound track music by Rachmaninoff. It is still available to watch on DVD. Superb performances by both stars and heartbreaking for anyone who has been in love and that realized how their selfish actions would have enormous consequences on others.
