Peter Bradshaw Guardian 11/11/2010
3/5
It's not entirely believable and yet Arnott and Browne show an absolute, full-on commitment. Even though it's flawed, it's also strangely heartfelt. Go to Full Review

There's an attractive, raw intensity to 'brilliantlove' that's undeniable. Go to Full Review

An explicit and atmospheric, if just occasionally unconvincing look at sex and relationships. Go to Full Review
Alistair Harkness Scotsman 11/15/2010

Any good work is sabotaged somewhat by some spurious plotting and an ill-judged, final-act attempt to satirise the pretentiousness of the art world. Go to Full Review
David Edwards Daily Mirror (UK) 11/12/2010

While it's to be commended for including so much nudity in these prudish times, what a pity more attention wasn't paid to the plot that feels, ahem, threadbare. Go to Full Review

Greasy and Gross See more 01/18/2015 A studiously styleless look at a photographer who loses some photos of his taxidermist girlfriend and they are found by a porn producer who turns him into an art crowd favourite. Apparently real sex if you can be bothered watching it. See more Grant S @grantss 09/26/2014 Most art movies fall over because of their pretentiousness. This one is bad because it is, well, bad. Incredibly badly made. It doesn't have enough plot to even aspire to being pretentious. Throw in some very weak performances and you have a craptacular movie. The initial idea wasn't that original to start off, and reminded me of 9 Songs (for a few reasons...). However, 9 Songs had a reasonable plot, OK performances and some fantastic music. Not a great movie, but it was Ok. BrilliantLove, on the other hand, has nothing going for it. It just seems to drift throughout, with no point, unlikable characters and very lacklustre performances. Avoid. See more 09/28/2011 Plot is flawed, and borderline fantastical (haha) but genuine and brilliant-love. See more 08/27/2011 Fell short of its ambitions, but extra sexy. See more 06/06/2011 Ridiculous movie about a hipster couple. See more Read all reviews
