Peter Bradshaw Guardian It's not entirely believable and yet Arnott and Browne show an absolute, full-on commitment. Even though it's flawed, it's also strangely heartfelt. Rated: 3/5 Nov 11, 2010 Full Review Dave Calhoun Time Out There's an attractive, raw intensity to 'brilliantlove' that's undeniable. Rated: 3/5 Nov 10, 2010 Full Review Anna Smith Empire Magazine An explicit and atmospheric, if just occasionally unconvincing look at sex and relationships. Rated: 3/5 Nov 10, 2010 Full Review Alistair Harkness Scotsman Any good work is sabotaged somewhat by some spurious plotting and an ill-judged, final-act attempt to satirise the pretentiousness of the art world. Rated: 2/5 Nov 15, 2010 Full Review David Edwards Daily Mirror (UK) While it's to be commended for including so much nudity in these prudish times, what a pity more attention wasn't paid to the plot that feels, ahem, threadbare. Rated: 2/5 Nov 12, 2010 Full Review David Aldridge Radio Times Unless you're a fan of films featuring bouts of explicit love-making, it's likely to come across as nothing more than a self-indulgent bore. Audience Member A studiously styleless look at a photographer who loses some photos of his taxidermist girlfriend and they are found by a porn producer who turns him into an art crowd favourite. Apparently real sex if you can be bothered watching it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Most art movies fall over because of their pretentiousness. This one is bad because it is, well, bad. Incredibly badly made. It doesn't have enough plot to even aspire to being pretentious. Throw in some very weak performances and you have a craptacular movie. The initial idea wasn't that original to start off, and reminded me of 9 Songs (for a few reasons...). However, 9 Songs had a reasonable plot, OK performances and some fantastic music. Not a great movie, but it was Ok. BrilliantLove, on the other hand, has nothing going for it. It just seems to drift throughout, with no point, unlikable characters and very lacklustre performances. Avoid. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Plot is flawed, and borderline fantastical (haha) but genuine and brilliant-love. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Fell short of its ambitions, but extra sexy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Ridiculous movie about a hipster couple. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A interesting enough tale of two young lovers who enjoy there wild lifestyle full of sex and friendship, living in a garage, but its when photos of there sex and poses, castch the eye of a local guy that interups there commitment to each other and takes tragic turns for both in there time apart. the two leads are interesting and good enough, and put it all out there, but at times the film fails to grab you as it should, although that said, moments to be had Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
