I’m really concerned about the low ratings of this film. It’s a victim turned villain story of a girl and her family on the prairie. The stepmother delivers the preacher’s child and kills the baby to save the mother. The preacher then begins a revenge spiral and kills the father and stepmother. A daughter of the deceased parents is then sent to a brothel where she finds a maternal prostitute. The preacher appears at the brothel and has enough money to get whatever he wants. He takes the girl he orphaned and trouble ensues. The end of the movie is full of twists and resolutions that resolve the story in interesting ways.

I watched this with my wife and we truly "enjoyed" every minute. It is incredibly rich in story line, plot and biblical elements. Eastwood meets Tarantino if you ask me. Cinemagraphy is wonderful in almost every shot and acting is sublime by all. Gruesome and dark as it is. It is beautiful.

Caught this one on Prime and thought I would create an account just to leave my positive review. I really don’t understand the bad reviews. As a devout cinephile it is vexing to me. First and foremost, I will say that this one is not for the faint of heart. However it is a gritty, tense, kind of mystery of sorts told in 4 chapters. The acting is top notch and cinematography is beautiful. A new western in the likes of Slow West and Sweetwater. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie. You can say that I sent you, and that you’re cool. Never mind the negative reviews.
