Audience Member A spy drama that requires attention and provides suspense. Filmed at the start of WWII, it offers a solid plot with somewhat unbelievable twists. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is made in 1940 and set during World War I. it is a spy film. It can be kind of boring. There is some action at the beginning and towards the end of the film but the middle of the film it is mostly conversations trying to determine who is working for who and who are the spies. It is kind of a difficult film to follow since this film has double agents as well as talking. It was an alright film but kids would probably be born by the film. There is some trench warfare, German spies, British Intelligence as well as double agents. The film has it's moments. I had difficulties seeing this film the first time determining who was working for who and what exactly the spies were after. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Margaret Lindsay is a secret agent staying in a British official's home as a guest investigating an intelligence leak. Boris Karloff plays the butler, who is also an anent. This spy tale is set during WWI, but the Nazi Germany overtones are unmistakable. Margaret Lindsey is quite good and reminded me of Barbara Stanwyck at times, but it's Karloff who steals the show as the creep, scarred butler spy. It's always a treat to see Karloff in a non-horror role because he did them so rarely. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member remake of a 1930 espionager '3 faces east' Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Old Fashion Spy Thriller of Historical Value and Still Fun--Compact spy thriller with excellent performances from Karloff and Lindsay!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Hooked on Karloff,Great spy thriller,Double agents, great angle for an early spy film. You get led in one direction by this film,Only to be taken in another,Without spoiling the plot, It is difficult to explain in depth, but the bad guy who is the main spy (Karloff) lulls the viewer into a false sense of security,Also in the film is a plot to blow up British Government boys, and a love story in there too, it's very well written, and acted,And filmed,Very Atmospheric, for a film made 73 years ago. Really well done. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
