Critics Consensus

Woody Allen's hard-working, uphill-climbing Broadway talent agent is rendered memorably with equal parts absurdity and affection.

An irresistible bauble that showcases perhaps the best of the 13 performances Mia Farrow delivered in a Woody Allen production. Go to Full Review

Tim M @tgmacman Aug 3 Perhaps Woody Allen's funniest effort both in front of and behind the camera, Broadway Danny Rose presents an act that's difficult to forget. See more ed m 03/28/2023 Funny movie. Accurate depiction of small time showbiz See more dave s 01/22/2023 Danny Rose (Woody Allen) is a New York talent agent with a stable of talent that can only be considered something less than desirable. Much to Danny's chagrin, his main client, Lou Canova (Nick Apollo Forte), a washed-up lounge singer making a comeback, is distracted by his devotion to his girlfriend, the volatile Tina Vitale (Mia Farrow). Seemingly one of Allen's lesser known early efforts, it's a joy to watch from beginning to end thanks to solid performances from the leads, genuinely likeable characters, and a clever screenplay from Allen. Even for those who aren't Woody Allen fans, Broadway Danny Rose is worth watching for one scene: the confrontation by the helium trucks. See more Kevin L 01/22/2023 This is one of Allen's great comedies. The character of 'Broadway' Danny Rose is also one of his best. He and Farrow are wonderful together, and she also has a great character as the girlfriend of a meathead toughguy lounge singer. Wonderful writing, comedic timing, supporting cast, and even the black and white choice works well. 4 stars See more Shioka O 09/26/2022 Another Woody Allen film! helium scene is laughable, See more 07/01/2022 Such an endearing, beautiful movie... and funny! Definitely, one of Woody Allen's Best, un chef d'oeuvre. See more Read all reviews
