The artificiality of the proceedings, which are marked by schematic characterizations, obvious metaphors and stilted dialogue, is not alleviated by the director's choice of visuals. Go to Full Review

Boringly staged tableaus of self-involved yuppies and sentimentalized white working-class ethnics struggling to connect. Go to Full Review

A Broken Sole is a bad movie, worse theater. Go to Full Review

The rhythms of Charlotte's mannered, artificial dialogue are better suited to stage than screen -- each segment started life as a one-act play and overall the film works better as a conversation starter than drama. Go to Full Review

11/10/2007 This is one of the worst movies I've ever had the misfortune of sitting through. Very prententious. How dare the writer, Susan Charlotte, use the poor unfortunate souls that died on 9/11 as a backdrop for this pitiful pile of garbage. I can tell you persoanlly, that on that day at around 3:00pm, when the movie depicts the scene in the shoemakers store, there was absolutely no traffic on the streets, other than emergency vehicles. In her movie, traffic flows past the door as if it were any other day. This type of inaccuracy is unacceptable. The stories are trite and have no basis in any reality that I know of. Has Miss Charlotte been in a taxi recently? There aren't any Americans that drive taxis anymore. Boring, boring, boring. I attended the 10:10pm showing on the second day of it's release. Only five people were in attendance. 2/3 of the way through the first story, a couple left. Before the mid-point of the 2nd story another man left, cursing under his breath. Only two of us managed to make it to the end. And I only stayed because I knew I would have to wait in Penn station for the next train. I figured that I might as well wait in the theater and hope the movie improved. It did not. See more Read all reviews
