Trace Thurman Horror Queers Podcast Someone get this film an editor, stat. Rated: 1.5/5 Oct 7, 2025 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast A few interesting ideas and a bevy of queer characters are flattened under confusing messaging, a drawn-out narrative, and terrible editing. Rated: 1.5/5 Oct 7, 2025 Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots Grim, gritty, and just the right amount of campy, the film wears its influences proudly and pulls them off with confidence. It’s a love letter to a bygone era of horror, a film made for fans of grindhouse terror and psychopathic slaughter. Oct 1, 2025 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat Brute 1976 is no X, but it is a solid if clichéd slasher. Rated: 7/10 Sep 18, 2025 Full Review Riley Cassidy Daily Grindhouse BRUTE 1976 feels very much like a modern movie trying to emulate the ‘70s, rather than something authentic. Rated: C+ Sep 3, 2025 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed Brute 1976 is a violent mix of desert fiends, fashion folks, and what happens when people are left alone outside of society for too long. MB C A brutal, sunburned trip into vintage terror, Brute 1976 channels the spirit of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes with gritty devotion. Director and cinematographer recreate the look and feel of 1970s horror grainy textures, earthy tones, and raw tension—but the story struggles to match its style....While the gore is unapologetic and the atmosphere palpable, the film offers little depth beyond its homage. The characters are thin, the pacing uneven, and the ending abrupt....Dazelle Yvette’s “Mama Birdie” brings menace and presence, yet never becomes the iconic villain she could have been.....Visually impressive but narratively hollow, Brute 1976 feels less like a nightmare reborn and more like a love letter soaked in blood to a bygone era of horror..... Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/16/25 Full Review George R O-M-G. Please don't rent this movie. It is an extremely low-budget poor excuse for a slasher film. Acting was horrible. Story was stupid. I paid $1.99 to watch it and way over paid. How did any of the critics recommend this movie? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/25 Full Review Read all reviews
